STEP 4: SCHEDULING YOUR EXAM 

After completing the application form, you will receive an email in 48 hours to find out whether your application is approved, or if it has any errors. Once your application is approved you will receive another email regarding the PSI (Professional Service Industry) confirmation notice. 

After the confirmation notice, the candidate has to appear for the practical test. Without passing the practical test you are not eligible for a written exam. Once you pass your practical exam, you can schedule a written exam within a year of time.

The applicant must fill in the full legal name and other details asked on the website. The next step for candidates is to choose the examination center they are comfortable with, and nearest to them.

  • Monday to Friday between 6 A.M. to 9 P.M.
  • Saturday and Sunday between 8 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.

STEP 5: ON EXAMINATION DAY 

Once you have registered and scheduled your exam you must carry the documents when you go for the exam. The candidates must carry two pieces of identification with their signatures on both documents. 

One of the IDs must carry your photograph for verification purposes. The name on the application form must match the name on both your IDs. The documents required for the examination day are as follows:

  • US-issued driver’s license.
  • US state-issued identification card.
  • US Gov’t issued passport.
  • Alien registration card (the card must not be expired).
  • Social security card.
  • Credit card with your signature. 

STEP 6: TAKE THE EXAM 

There are two exams in the Colorado State Board for the Barbers Exam:

  • Practical exam. 
  • Written exam. 

The duration of the practical exam is around three to four hours. Written tests have to be taken after the practical exam. The duration of the written test is around 100 minutes and it is a closed-book examination. 

STEP 7: THE RESULTS ANALYSIS 

Once you have completed both the practical and written exams, you can check your results and should have scored at least 70% to pass the licensing procedure. After passing the exam, you are eligible to receive a license from the state of Colorado.
